Terms of Use

Effective July 13, 2026

These Terms explain the rules for using Tummel, including AI limitations, subscriptions, user content, and account responsibilities. Tummel is a study aid; important answers should still be checked.

1. Agreement and eligibility

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Tummel ("Tummel," "we," "us," or "our") governing tummelai.com and the related study, account, sharing, billing, and email features (the "Service"). By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Tummel. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, your parent or legal guardian must permit your use and agree to these Terms on your behalf. The Service is offered directly to individual users and is not represented as a school-managed or FERPA-compliant service.

2. Tummel is a study aid

Tummel uses artificial intelligence and automated checks to generate explanations, practice material, feedback, and learning insights. AI output can be incomplete, inaccurate, offensive, outdated, or unsuitable for your situation. A "verified" label describes the limited automated checks Tummel performed; it is not a guarantee that every step, premise, citation, or conclusion is correct.

You are responsible for reviewing outputs and using independent judgment. Do not rely on Tummel as a substitute for a teacher, qualified professional, emergency service, or authoritative source. Tummel does not provide medical, legal, financial, mental-health, or other professional advice, and does not guarantee grades, admissions, academic results, or uninterrupted availability.

3. Accounts

  • Provide accurate information and keep your login credentials secure.
  • Do not share or transfer your account, impersonate another person, or access an account without permission.
  • You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless you promptly notify us of unauthorized access.
  • We may require email confirmation or other reasonable verification to protect an account or fulfill a request.

4. Plans, trials, renewal, and cancellation

Tummel may offer free features and a paid Tummel Plus subscription. Prices, billing frequency, plan limits, trial eligibility, and promotional terms are shown before checkout. Stripe processes payment information and hosts checkout and subscription management.

  • Trials. If the offer shown to you includes a seven-day free trial, a payment method is required at signup. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, Stripe will charge the displayed subscription price when the trial converts. Trial eligibility is generally limited to one trial per account.
  • Automatic renewal. Monthly plans renew each month and three-month plans renew every three months until canceled. You authorize Stripe to charge the payment method on file for the displayed recurring price and applicable taxes at each renewal.
  • Promotions. A discounted first term renews at the standard price disclosed at checkout unless you cancel. Promotion eligibility, dates, and redemption limits may apply.
  • Cancellation. You can cancel without contacting support by opening Settings, choosing Manage billing, and confirming cancellation in Stripe's Billing Portal. Cancel before the next charge to stop renewal. Unless the checkout terms or law say otherwise, access continues through the paid period and cancellation does not retroactively refund prior charges.
  • Price changes. We may change prices for a future renewal after providing the notice required by applicable law. If you do not agree, cancel before the changed price takes effect.

Except where required by law or expressly stated in an offer, charges already paid are non-refundable. Contact us promptly if you believe a charge was made in error.

5. Your content and AI output

"User Content" means prompts, messages, files, images, answers, notes, study material, and other content you submit, plus outputs generated from it. You keep any rights you have in your input. You give Tummel a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, process, transmit, format, and display User Content only as reasonably needed to provide, secure, support, and improve the Service and to follow your sharing choices.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit User Content. Do not upload confidential exams, restricted answer keys, another person's private information, or copyrighted material you are not allowed to use. If you create a public link, you direct Tummel to make that snapshot available to anyone with the link until it is revoked.

As between you and Tummel, Tummel claims no ownership in AI output created for you. Output may not be unique, and rights in output can depend on applicable law and the terms of the model provider that generated it. We do not promise that output is copyrightable, non-infringing, or available for exclusive use.

6. Acceptable use

You may not use the Service to:

  • Break the law, infringe rights, harass, threaten, exploit, or harm another person.
  • Cheat, submit AI output as your own when prohibited, obtain restricted exam material, or violate a school, course, testing, or academic-integrity rule.
  • Upload malware, attempt unauthorized access, probe security, disrupt the Service, or evade technical limits and safety measures.
  • Scrape, resell, sublicense, or provide shared access to the Service except as we expressly allow.
  • Use automated means to create accounts or generate traffic that places an unreasonable load on the Service.
  • Submit personal or sensitive information about another person without appropriate notice, permission, and legal authority.
  • Use a model or output in a way prohibited by the applicable third-party provider terms.

7. Tummel property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, text, and other materials supplied by Tummel, is owned by Tummel or its licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for its intended purpose. They do not transfer ownership of Tummel technology or branding.

8. Third-party services and model terms

The Service depends on third parties such as Supabase, Vercel, OpenRouter, model providers, Stripe, Resend, Google, and Microsoft. Their services may change or become unavailable. Your use of an AI feature is also subject to restrictions that the applicable model provider requires us to pass through. OpenRouter publishes current provider information in its provider documentation. To the extent allowed by law, Tummel is not responsible for third-party services or their independent acts.

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Tummel at any time. Contact us to request permanent account deletion. Cancel an active subscription before requesting deletion; deleting an account does not automatically reverse a charge or cancel a subscription that remains active with Stripe.

We may limit, suspend, or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address a Terms violation, security risk, abuse, legal requirement, nonpayment, or harm to the Service or others. When practical, we will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including payment obligations, ownership, disclaimers, and liability limits.

10. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available." Tummel disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service or any output will be accurate, complete, secure, uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your needs. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so some of this section may not apply to you.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tummel will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, goodwill, academic opportunity, or business interruption arising from the Service. Tummel's total liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid Tummel during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

These limits do not apply where prohibited by law or to liability that cannot legally be limited. Nothing in these Terms limits non-waivable consumer rights.

12. Changes to the Service or Terms

We may add, remove, or change features and limits. We may update these Terms as Tummel or the law changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice for material changes. Changes will apply prospectively. If you do not agree to revised Terms, stop using the Service and cancel any subscription before its next renewal.

13. General terms

If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the rest will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a financing, reorganization, sale, or transfer of the Service. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement about the Service, except for terms shown at checkout or for a specific feature.

14. Contact

Questions, billing issues, copyright reports, or notices about these Terms can be sent to support@tummelai.com.
